The ECAC assigns officials in 12 sports in Division I, II and
III, including men's and women's basketball, fencing, field hockey,
football, men's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and
women's soccer, softball and wrestling. In addition, the ECAC
officiating bureaus provide clinics and workshops, improving the
level of officiating and attracting the most qualified collegiate
officials. The bureaus assign for both conference and NCAA
championships and totaled over 46,000 assignments using more than
4,400 officials last year.

August 19, 2010Kevin McGoff Wins ECACs George Shiebler Award
Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Commissioner Rudy Keeling announced today that Kevin McGoff has been selected as the recipient of the 2010 George Shiebler Award presented by Rotasole. He will receive his award on Tuesday, September 28, at the ECAC Honors Banquet presented by Jostens. The luncheon will be held at The Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis, Massachusetts during the 2010 ECAC Fall Convention and Trade Show. The George L. Shiebler Award is presented annually to an ECAC official who has demonstrated dedication to his avocational activities. The award is named after George L. Shiebler, former ECAC commissioner, in honor of his leadership over the many years he was associated with Eastern collegiate athletics.

ECAC Announces Fee Freeze for 2010-11
In the ECAC's ongoing efforts to annually contain officiating costs for our member institutions, ECAC Commissioner Rudy Keeling announced that officiating bureau fees will not increase in the 2010-11 athletic year and will remain the same as the fees paid during the current 2009-10 year. The ECAC also froze several other fees for the upcoming year.

ECAC Announces New Officiating Coordinators in Basketball and Soccer
The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC®) is pleased to announce the appointment of four new officiating coordinators, three in basketball and one in soccer. Larry Last and Steve Rossetti have been named ECAC Coordinators of Mens Basketball Officials in New England, while Jim Huetter has been named Coordinator of Mens and Womens Basketball Officiating in Upstate New York. Lou Minutoli has been named the ECAC Coordinator of Soccer Officiating in Metro New York.

2011 ECAC Fall Softball Classic to be Held September 18-19
Cape Cod, Mass. - The ECAC will hold its annual Fall Softball Classic September 18-19, 2011 at the Hoyle Elementary School Softball Field Complex in Swansea, Mass. The event invites ECAC member institutions and regional junior colleges that sponsor the sport of softball to participate in this competitive pre-season event. The ECAC softball officiating bureau also uses the event as an evaluation and recruitment tool for ECAC softball umpires.

The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) in cooperation with the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association (CBOA) will sponsor the fifth annual mens basketball officials instructional clinic in Plymouth, New Hampshire on July 20-22. Plymouth State University will serve as host in conjunction with the Plymouth State Mens Basketball King of the Mountain team camp.
