Eastern College Football Awards Banquet to be held at the Meadowlands

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference has announced that the Annual Eastern College Football Awards Banquet will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013 in the Lexus Club Room at MetLife Stadium in the New Jersey Meadowlands.

The banquet will honor both teams and individuals for their performances during the 2012 season.  The University of Cincinnati (Division I Bowl Subdivision), Old Dominion University (Division I Championship Subdivision), Indiana University of Pennsylvania (Division II) and Hobart College (Division III) will be presented the Lambert Meadowlands Awards as the top teams in the East in their respective Divisions.  Syracuse University (FBS), Stony Brook University (FCS), Mercyhurst University (Division II) and Hobart will each receive the ECAC Team of the Year Awards in their respective Divisions.  ECAC Team of the year awards go to the highest ranking ECAC members in the Lambert Polls. 

Three men will receive the ECAC Red Hill Awards for the ECAC Football Officials of the Year. Barry Fowler of the Connecticut chapter of the Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Football Officials, Mark Mesnick of the Metro EAIFO and Mark Zides from the Western Massachusetts EAIFO Chapter will be honored.

Players and Rookies of the Year in the various ECAC regions along with the ECAC All-Star Teams will also be feted.  Major award winners are:

  • Khaseem Greene, Rutgers University - Division I FBS Player of the Year
  • Miguel Maysonet, Stony Brook University -  Division I FCS Offensive Player of the Year
  • Robert McCabe, Georgetown University - Division I FCS Defensive Player of the Year
  • Melikke Van Alstyne, Framingham State University - Division III Offensive Player of the Year
  • James Muirhead, Framingham State University - Division III North Defensive Player of the Year
  • Chris Haupt, Widener Universit - Division III South Offensive Player of the Year
  • Sosthene Kapepula, Wesley College - Division III South Defensive Player of the Year
  • Stefon Diggs, University of Maryland - Division I FBS Offensive Rookie of the Year
  • Tyler Matakevich, Temple University - Division I FBS Defensive Rookie of the Year
  • John Robertson, Villanova University - Division I FCS Offensive Rookie of the Year
  • Jeff Williams, University of Delaware - Division I FCS Defensive Rookie of the Year
  • Jonathan Marrero, Springfield College - Division III North Offensive Rookie of the Year
  • Nathan Fleming, Western New England - Division III North Defensive Rookie of the Year
  • Connor Falguerra, Western Connecticut State Univ. - Division III South Offensive Rookie of the Year
  • Darren Dungee, Rowan University - Division III South Defensive Rookie of the Year

Tickets for the event are available from the Eastern College Athletic Conference. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be available at the door.
